The project selection process of NRP 66 has reached the next level. Out of 68 submitted draft proposals, the members of the Steering Committee have selected 33 projects. The responsible applicants of these projects have been invited to submit a full proposal.
The number of funded projects will, however, be substantially lower: the 33 shortlisted projects are requesting a total of 14.7 million Swiss francs but only 9 million Swiss francs have been earmarked for project funding during the first three years of NRP 66.
The Steering Committee of NRP 66 and international experts will be assessing the proposals submitted by the end of August. After a November colloquium, during which recommendations will be presented, the Steering Committee will select projects which it will recommend for approval/rejection by the National Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation. The final decisions are expected in December 2011. Research should get underway in early 2012.
