New materials from wood - a lot of work still needed!

The 6th Chemistry Day in Wädenswil, held on 26 June 2014, assessed the progress made by researchers and businesses in developing new wood-based materials. Conclusion: despite the enormous potential and promising new products, there is still a long way to go to achieve a more wood-based economy.

A series of talks gave the approximately 90 guests attending the event exciting insights into the wide-ranging field of wood processing technologies. Florian Seebeck (Uni Basel), Christoph Weder (AMI/Fribourg), Frédéric Pichelin (BFH Bienne) and Ingo Burgert (ETH Zurich) spoke about research projects of NRP 66.

The 6th Chemistry Day in Wädenswil was organised by the Institute of Chemistry and Biological Chemistry of the Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften, in collaboration with the Swiss Wood Innovation Network (S-WIN) and the National Research Programme "Resource Wood" (NRP 66). Martin Riediker, President of the Steering Committee of NRP 66 and Thomas Bernhard, Head of KTT of NRP 66 moderated the panel discussion that rounded off the Event.
